(1) The Government of Nepal shall publish a notice in the Nepal Gazette in the forest areas of the designated districts from Kartik to Jeshta Mansat and in the forest areas of other districts, the District Forest Officer, in consultation with the District Development Committee, shall determine the deadline for collecting firewood and taking it out of the forest area for a maximum period of eight months, and so The firewood must be collected and taken out of the forest area within the stipulated period. However, this rule shall not be considered as a hindrance to collect and take out wood from the forest area for sale and distribution of wood to the people who are affected by natural calamity.
(2) Notwithstanding anything written in sub-rule (1), if there is a reasonable and sufficient reason for not being able to collect firewood from the forest area within the period specified in the said sub-rule, the District Forest Officer may extend the period for removing firewood for a maximum period of two months.
